Roundtable on Publishing at the 2009 AAASS Conference Acquisitions editors from the presses participating in the Mellon Initiative in Slavic Studies will hold a roundtable for beginning authors (more experienced authors are welcome too) at the convention of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies in Boston in November 2009. The roundtable, “Pitching a Book Project to a Prospective Publisher,” is aimed at helping authors navigate early stages of publishing a book. Editors Peter Kracht (University of Pittsburgh Press), Mike Levine (Northwestern University Press), and Gwen Walker (the University of Wisconsin Press) will talk about how to identify the best publisher, at what stage to approach a publisher, how to pitch projects to editors at a conference, what publishers look for in a project, and what a book proposal should include.
